This estimator uses a multi-factor model based on real appliance repair industry data:

1. Base Parts Cost : Each appliance has typical parts cost ranges by problem severity (minor/moderate/major). Sourced from repair industry averages.
2. Labor Cost : Estimated at $75-$120/hr depending on location, multiplied by expected labor hours (0.5-3 hrs based on severity).
3. Brand Multiplier : Budget brands use cheaper parts (0.85×); premium brands use proprietary parts costing up to 1.4× more.
4. Age Factor : Older appliances may need harder-to-find parts, adding 5-25% to parts cost after 8+ years.
5. Location Index : Labor rates vary significantly by geography; urban areas typically cost 25-45% more.
6. Service Call Fee : A flat $65-$120 diagnostic/service fee is added, which is often credited toward the repair.
