How It Works

Home Office Deduction (Regular Method)

We calculate the percentage of your home used exclusively for business (business sq ft divided by total sq ft), then apply that percentage to your total annual home expenses (rent or mortgage plus utilities). This follows IRS Publication 587 guidelines for the regular method.

Standard Mileage Deduction

We use the IRS standard mileage rate of $0.67 per mile (2024 rate) multiplied by your total business miles driven. This covers vehicle depreciation, fuel, insurance, and maintenance costs in one simple deduction.

Other Business Expenses

Ordinary and necessary business expenses (software subscriptions, office supplies, professional services, advertising, etc.) are fully deductible under IRC Section 162. Enter your total here for a direct deduction.

Qualified Business Income (QBI) Deduction

Eligible pass-through business owners (sole proprietors, partnerships, S-corps) may deduct up to 20% of qualified business income under IRC Section 199A, introduced by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. We estimate this as 20% of (Revenue minus all other deductions), subject to income thresholds. S-corp owners see a slightly reduced estimate due to reasonable salary rules.
