Workers Comp Insurance Cost Estimator

Free online workers compensation insurance cost calculator. Instant estimate, no signup.

Total gross wages for all employees per year.

Select the category that best describes the primary job type.

1.0 is average. Below 1.0 means fewer claims; above means more claims.

Rates vary by state due to regulations and claim costs.

How It Works

1. Payroll - Enter your total annual employee wages. Higher payroll increases premium because more workers are covered.

2. Classification - Each job type has a risk rate (per $100 of payroll). Clerical is lowest (0.50), construction is higher (3.50), manufacturing highest (5.00).

3. Experience Mod - Your claims history factor. A mod of 0.8 means 20% discount; 1.2 means 20% surcharge.

4. State Factor - Adjusts for regional cost differences (California 1.25, Texas 0.90, New York 1.15, Florida 0.95, Illinois 1.05, other 1.00).

Formula: (Payroll / 100) x Class Rate x Experience Mod x State Factor = Estimated Annual Premium.

Default class rates: Clerical $0.50, Retail $1.50, Construction $3.50, Manufacturing $5.00 per $100 payroll.
